Mar 29, 2019 - Mar 31 2019
7:00 am - 7:00 pm
retreat lead by Emily Parzybok
Silent practice and group silence can be an incredible tool for relaxation, introspection and discovery. We will come together Friday evening for dinner and practice and then will begin silence starting Friday night. Saturday will be a day spent in social silence. There will be guided practice throughout the day interspersed with meals and breaks. We will break the silence on Sunday morning together and then spend a bit more time together before leaving Sunday afternoon.
This retreat will focus a good deal on meditation and insight practice, but will also have a strong yoga component. We will practice active, yin and restorative styles of yoga as well as seated and walking meditation.
In addition, I am thrilled to have Kevin Hartley joining to provide massage and body work. Kevin is an incredible healer and we’re so lucky to have him work with us on this retreat. You can indicate that you would like a massage below. The massage part of retreat is optional. You can read more about Kevin at fluxandflowbodywork.com.
I am also so excited to have Aubrey Jenkins joining us to provide meals. Aubrey is a personal chef in the Seattle area who specializes in plant-based meals. Her food is healthy, vibrant and so so so delicious. I would consider coming on this retreat only to eat Aubrey’s incredible meals- the meditation and yoga are just a bonus! You can check out Aubrey’s beautiful food at www.drumbeets.com or on Instagram at @drumbeets.
Silent retreat can be a powerful experience. It can also sound a bit intimidating. If you’re new to silent retreat or have questions for me, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Because we are only spending about 36 hours in silence, this might actually be a great way to discover this practice without feeling overwhelmed on a 10 day retreat!
If you are new to yoga or meditation, I am happy to provide some resources and guidance before the retreat to make your experience on the retreat as full as possible.
Please note: I ask that you bring two bolsters, three blankets and two blocks on this retreat in addition to your yoga mat. We can work on finding these for you if you don’t own them or have a place to borrow them from!
